Hanami in Vantaa

Posted in Japanese, Outings at 02:54 by krause

In Japan, cherry blossom viewing is an important event of the year. I felt “home sick” and wanted to do a hanami excursion to the Japanese greenhouse in Vantaa. The cherries were blooming, and I decided to wear a tsumugi kimono in spring colors.

The cherry blossoms were so pretty, but the odd thing was, there are leaves at the tome of blooming. On Japan I only saw cherry blossoms in otherwise bare trees, pink on brown, not pink on green.

Some Chinese people offered me white tea brewed over night in cold water. Oishii yo! It tasted sooo refresing and fresh, like spring itself. Koi carps are swiming in the pond where cherry blossom petals are floating.

Soon spring is going to be over: sakura petals are already falling, and the maple is red.
